Story:

 

Aellies are a race of magical beings that conjure and channel magic through their hair.

Each child is given, at a certain age, their very own spirit animal to which they bond and fuse with. It is not the Aellies who choose their familiar but the familiar choosing them. Once fused, they become a new being, their hair most notably taking on traits of their familiar.

In their world, there are four layers that exist.

Land, Sky, Sea, and Space.

All Aellies start on land and once they’ve successfully bonded with their familiar, their winged hair will lead them to the higher layers of their world. Floating islands far beyond the clouds along with a vast sea in the sky. It is still a mystery if an Aellies can reach the fourth layer; Space.

There were many rumors told of beings who ascended greater than any other. Perhaps one day they will descend to tell the tale.


Until then, who knows what lie in waiting.

Aellies are known for their hair. Magically infused with their familiar who became winged creatures of the sky. The greater the magic, the greater the hair. And depending on what familiar they fused with would change their appearance through their hair, aesthetic and overall look. Some mutated more than others.
Those with lesser magic are not well liked. Their wings are smaller, frailer. Usually, common folk that is underlings against their more powerful counterparts.
